The first reference we find in the old minute books was in 1796 when the sum of £2/5s was used to furnish the Lodge with a 'Making Cloth', which was a linen cloth upon which the tracing board designs were drawn or painted. It was called a 'Making Cloth' because it was used for 'Making Masons'.
In 1826, the sum of £7 was given to Bro. Harris to furnish the Lodge with a 'Lodge Board' but there is no further mention of this ever being effected in the Minute Books.
This 3rd Degree Tracing board, which is to a unique design, was made and painted by Bro William Rule, and presented to the Lodge in 1837. At the time it was described as 'elegant' and 'affectionally received by the Members'.
