The Jewel was made by Kenning & Son London and bears their Hallmark. It would also appear that a name and a date has been removed and that of Bro. Mead and his date of appointment have been later added. From these two facts it is presumed that the jewel dates from an earlier time than that of 1973. Further research is underway to ascertain its exact date and from whom it came originally.
I include this little memento, as many of the current Brethren will remember Ferdie as one of the best '20th Century' Preceptors, a lovely man and a fine ritualist. He also had a most profound influence on my own appreciation of Freemasonry and I am proud to have studied under him. He is survived by his wife, Alice, with whom the Lodge keep in regular contact.
